Friday's Rugby Face is an original art project by Ronnie which features internationally capped men's rugby players (chosen from his followers' suggestions each week).
Original mixed media artwork by Ronnie McInnes No.10 - Jonny Wilkinson © 2020.
Friday's Rugby Face is about celebrating some important players, big characters or inspirations from men's rugby union. Partly influenced by Pop Surrealism, I usually tie something into the narrative that has been inspired by video games.

The artwork was made by using a combination of long exposure (light painting) photography and digital art techniques. This is the tenth piece from the project and features English rugby player - Fly Half - Jonny Wilkinson.
My eldest daughter Lauren got to pick from the fab suggestions this week. Amazing choice I reckon.
I have heard Jonny a number of times referring to successes like England's world cup win as like a "fairy tale". So I picked a game with a fairy tale theme, Kingdom Hearts. Some of the movements in the game produce swirls of light and keys are a common theme in the game too. Keys are important I think for this narrative as Jonny has long been looking for the right keys to his mental health. I use the swirls of light as Jonny's amazing skillset that he has honed meticulously. But to me, those skills were also a kind of prison for Jonny.
I'm glad to see Jonny has taken huge leaps forward with his mental health issues. It serves as an inspiration to people, like me, who often nit pick everything about themselves.
