How we are entertained by others or how we keep ourselves entertained are recurring themes in Ronnie's work. Ronnie moved away from his typical subject matter for this painting to explore how animals are entertainers too.

This painting is the fourteenth piece from my ongoing series The Entertainers. Dogs have a natural ability to entertain us, especially when we feel down. The old dog in the painting is based on the McInnes family dog (from my teenage years) called Jana. She was a golden Labrador Retriever.
